GM Message 15 November 2007

15 November 2007  Welcome to the first of many messages from me.

So, now I am the Grand Master.  What a feeling.  As I mentioned earlier, it is really not describable.  And I suspect it is different for every Grand Master.  But it is really humbling.  And a little scary.  But so far, I have had a really great time being Grand Master.  Perhaps by next September I will be ready to give it up, but not now.  To be honest, it has been so busy that it doesn't seem possible that I have been in office already for nearly two months.

Actually, the first official act of this Grand Lodge year was not at all pleasant.  That was the funeral for MW Brother Glenn Brown, PGM.  MW Brother Glenn was a friend of mine.  In fact, I think he was a friend to everybody.  He was certainly a mentor to many.  But the funeral was well done.  And the fraternity certainly showed their respect for this wonderful man.

We have now completed the series of 12 Grand Master's Area Meetings.  For more information on them, go HERE.  These meetings have provided a wonderful opportunity for me to meet a lot of brothers across the state, exchange thoughts and conversation with them, and let them know a little bit about the plans for the upcoming year.    It has been a lot of fun, but it certainly did involve a lot of traveling.
